I have been entertaining taking a job in Zhejiang, mainly Hangzhou. I have lived in China for 3 years but spent them all in the North. Currently I am living in Tianjin that has been about 35-37 everyday, but it is not so humid. Before that I was living in Jinzhou and Dalian. They were very temperate.

These days I have been thinking that all of China is really hot, but to what extreme?

If anyone can give me some ideas about life in Zhejiang that would be great. I am from the Northern Rockies in North America, so if you are from Florida or Australia and your idea of hot is different, let me know.

Right now Hangzhou is surprisingly mild. It's a bit rainy outside and not too humid. I have my windows open and fans blowing instead of using the AC. I have no idea what this summer will bring, but last summer was the "hottest summer in the past 100 years" (lucky me, I got to experience it!). The summer before was quite steamy as well. I enjoy Hangzhou well enough; it's just that the winter is so cold due it being so WET all the time. Our springtime was VERY rainy and cold (then cool) and the best weather has occured between mid-May to now. You can expect 30-32 C (what's that - around 90 to 95 F?) this July and Summer I expect, with about 90 percent humidity. A far cry from the Rockies. I call home Kansas (eastern) and the humidity there is bad, but I think Hangzhou is worse.

Yes, last summer south of Hangzhou seemed like an oven. I can certainly believe it ranked among the hottest in 100 years. The infrastructure could not support the demand for electricity, so periodically we endured the heat without air conditioning. I introduced the term "rolling blackout" to my hosts.

Today it is rainy, but the temps are a little warmer so it is quite humid out. I was a sweaty boy and now I'm enjoying my cool AC in my apartment. I hate summer anywhere I live!
