Saludos!
I have an MA TESOL. 5+ years' ESL/EFL teaching experience at the University level in Academic and English for Special Purposes (Business, Law, Banking, Real Estate & Land Development, and Food & Hospitality). I am active in research, and have published. I speak Spanish, (currently rusty) French, and am studying Arabic. I also translate books on foods and gastronomy into English
I would like to find a position teaching at a Mexican university, especially in the Puebla, Veracruz, DF, Morelos, Quertaro, Hidalgo or Yucatn areas, if at all possible. I would welcome corporate work, but really would rather avoid private EFL schools ... they are such a mixed bag.
I would love to be directed to any particular websites where these positions might be advertised, or contacts for the EFL Programs at any Universities. Are there any particularly recommendable ones, or conversely, ones to avoid?
Hopefully, expectantly, and with lots of gratitude,
Theabroma |

There is some good information out there is you use the search funtion at the top of the page. Search for University in the Mexico forum.
You can also find lists of universities in Mexico online, pick out the ones in areas you are intersted in and then go to their website and try to find the head of the language department.
Many universities will not have much experience working with foriegn teachers, so it might be best to focus on the ones that do--ITESM (the Tec de Monterrey) which has campuses all over the country is one. And the SUNEO (where I work) universities in Oaxaca is another.
As for what to avoid, you seem like you are not looking to work at a for profit university, which are currently proliferating in Mexico at the moment. It can be hard for foriegners to tell these apart from others, so just keep your eye peeled. Like are basically the Mexican equivalent of Kaplan "University". There is nothing wrong with working at a place like this--so long as you know that its that sort of place when you apply. |

Does anyone know if innovative-english.com is no longer placing teachers or if it's not an active placement agency anymore?
I just never heard back from them, which seems odd.. |

We are still very much in operation, but things have changed so much with immigration laws here in Mexico that we have turned into a recruitment agency on top of the TEFL training courses we offer.
PM me for specific info if you like |
