I'm planning on flying down to Mexico City in October or late September to accomplish 3 things.

1) I'd like to take the CELTA offered by IH.

2) Hopefully find a part-time job that keeps me in rent and food money.

3) With my free time I want to get back to being passable in Spanish.

I'm also considering Ecuador and Colombia and have not made a decision just yet.

But would it be possible to get a part-time job that keeps me in rent and food money? I won't be coming down impoverished, I'll have savings but neither do I want to fritter them away, I'd prefer to defray the expense of living a bit by teaching.

The immigration laws have recently changed and made it almost impossible for someone here on a tourist visa (which is what you'll have) to change it for a residence visa that allows you to work legally, if even offered a job by a Mexican company or school once you're here.

Wouldn't be the first time I've made a visa run, won't be the last I'm sure.

Possible, but.......

It's been over a year since I was there, but with my full time job, I was breaking even. I liked it there, but I gotta be able to save. I'm pretty frugal (most of the time).

Not too worried about saving, just don't want to be spending. How many hours a week were you putting in with a full time gig?
