Wife and I have been looking at relocating to Oman or the ME and wonder what our chances would be:
My background: American MEd, Texas teaching credential in secondary Social Studies, 15 years of ESL experience teaching at the univ level in Korea, no CELTA
Wife, American, MA English, 10 years of teaching experience at the univ level in Korea, for the past 5 years she has been working as teacher trainer/manager/product development for one of the major global ESL publishers based here in Seoul, no CELTA
Plan is to get out of Korea at the end of the calender year and maybe do a CELTA in the states and look for fall of 2014.
thanks |

I was told that anyone can get a CELTA in a month with one of the organized celta-offering schools in Thailand. Specifically polluted Bangkok, Pukhet or Chang Mai. . This is the same course as (but less expensive living costs than) in Europe or USA-Canada. |

Be aware the lack of an EFL teaching qualification over the course of your teaching careers may be an issue; the majority of employers in this region count post-TEFL cert experience when considering qualifications and salary. To see what quals are generally required, keep an eye on the job ads posted on TESOL.org, chronicle.com and higheredjobs.com. That's the best way to see what your chances will be. |
