I received this today from a Guangdong college I applied for last night:

"This is Lynne who is in charge of recruitment of foreign teachers from Guangdong Peizheng College, it is a great pleasure to receive your application, However, we could not invite you to be our English teacher for this term considering your graduation
time, according to the regulations of Guangdong government, it is required to have 2 years of full-time teaching experience AFTER graduation of bachelor degree, since you are graduated in 2012, therefore, your teaching experience is not meet the
requirement of the government.

Thanks for your interest in our position, if you still interest in our position next year, please don't hesitate to contact us."

Do you think this is why I'm not hearing from many universities/colleges in the Guangdong region? If so, man another year Sad

Guangdong is one of, if not the, strictest provinces when it comes to enforcing the rules. Especially Guangzhou city. The government here has cracked down a lot in recent years.

Why not apply in another, even neighbouring, province, then move here later?

Universities might not be willing to bend the truth like a training school would....

I have seen plenty of 22 year olds fresh out of university on proper paperwork...

I had no idea that experience was needed after i thought it was 2 years before during or after... At universities they may like oldish people not people 2 years older than the students....

It's because I have family in Hong Kong, so obviously I want to be in commutable distance of there. Fujian, Hunan, and Guangxi provinces are all hours away from HK (5-16hrs one way).

I have heard from a few universities in Hunan and Fujian province it's just I'm holding out in hopes I get a uni gig in Guangdong. Do you think thats a good idea?

you can't legally get a z-visa from a school in guangdong.
is it a good idea to keep trying until you A) come on a tourist
visa on promise to convert it, or B) there is no plan B.

If you don't satisfy the Guangdong work visa requirements the commute distance is irrelevant.
I'm assuming the HGK family isn't super close like wife and kids that you want to see daily?
Just do Fujian or Guangxi and fly down to visit them on weekends.
Xiamen to Hong Kong is like a dollar plus taxes for much of the year. I'm sure it's equally cheap from other locations.
