Is anyone here going to a group interview in LA next month?
This is gonna be my first time going to a setting like that. This should prove to be interesting! Wish me luck! |

| Also, I wanted to thank everyone here for posting their experience with AEON. I've researched all the topics exhaustively with respect to AEON's group interview and I couldn't thank you guys enough. I'm fairly newbie to this site and this site has been great with all the information that I need. |

Just pretend you are going for an audition and 'perform' the demos and you will be fine. I tried to actually sit down and teach the demo in the second interview and they didn't seem very impressed.  |

These things are more focused on promoting the brand than getting qualified teachers. But if you happen to be the best-looking applicant who will look nice on the advertising, you'll be employed with them before you can finish your Lonely Planet book. |

This is excellent advice. Here is some more advice:
1. Read all of the materials ahead of time.
2. Be prompt.
3. Be attentive.
4. Make eye contact.
5. Participate when appropriate.
6. Be organized with all of your materials.
7. Avoid distracting habits, and avoid distracting extremes.
8. Remain comfortable even when you do not know the answer to all of the questions that AEON may ask in written form. (Many of the questions are designed to see how one would perform under pressure.)
9. Smile occasionally and when socially appropriate. However do not do this too much. (See number 7.)
I hope this helps. I can assure you that there is no difference between my advice above and what an AEON rep. would advise if he/she would speak candidly. If you want the job, I hope you get it.
However, note that the presentation format is the exact same format that you should expect with AEON as long as you are with the company. If you find the whole interview process forced and contrived, think hard before committing to AEON. You can only expect more of the same as long as you are with the company. |

So you didn't get the job with AEON? Did they let you know how you did on your 2nd interview? |

Well, I wouldn't say I'm the best looking; I do try my best to look presentable as possible. Just bought a brand-spanking suit for this group interview.  |

All points are duly noted. Thanks for all the advice. I take that you were successful with AEON's interview? What "written form" are you referring to? Are you talking about the "grammar test"? I'm on a two week countdown and I'm starting to organize all my demo materials and required docs. I hope I do get it. At the same time, I'm casting a bigger net and I'm interviewing other companies as well especially ALTIA Central. |

I was successful with the AEON interview, then I was spectacularly unsuccessful with AEON once I got to Japan.
The "written form" term refers to the quizzes that are provided by AEON during the interview. The quizzes may include a grammar test, a review of the content that is presented during the interview, and then other questions designed to check for spelling and other things. When I was at the interview, the entire group was asked to spell difficult words like broccoli. I heard that other groups were asked to spell extremely difficult medical terms. Some of the words, and some parts of other quizzes, are difficult or almost impossible to get all correct. One goal of this exercise from AEON's point of view is to see how one reacts to pressure, so stay cool if you don't know everything. |
