I think not. I inquired about their on-line 120 Hour TEFL course and was told numerous lies as follows...

* You must have a TEFL certificate to teach anywhere in Asia (100% False)

* The onlineTefl.com certificate is internationally recognized (100% False)

* When you complete their TEFL course you get a "paid internship" (False)

* If you teach in China you "can earn a small fortune" (200% False)

Did you ring up out of a genuine interest in taking an online TEFL course, or were you conducting research out of curiosity?

I had a conversation with someone at this company once, and they still send me emails. My impression is that they have a range of online courses and a range of internship positions in various countries. At least some of their internships must be paid, or else you'd be doing voluntary work. (Of course, some companies do very well out of arranging voluntary placements around the world.)

Their website says they've recently introduced a part-time TEFL course that's claimed to be the equivalent of a CELTA. I don't suppose they'd have bothered if their online courses were sufficient. But the whole point of offering a range of courses is that people have different needs, and because TEFL employers have different expectations. That being the case, the statements made by the woman you spoke to weren't so much false as imprecise and superficial, or so it seems to me.

"The more I google them with the words "scam" and "fraud" the more lies I find. But then I also found some great "reviews" like the guy "Beare" at About.com and it is obvious they even fabricated their own reviews. These people are just plain shameless."

I read Mr. Beare's newsletter. It's sad to hear that he endorses a dubious program.
