I work for an Eikaiwa. I opted for the subsidized rent deal where the school finds me an apartment, pays the key money, etc. Well the apartment is right next to an air base...yeah, so planes are non-stop and REALLY close, so the noise pollution is terrible.

I know they didn't mean to do it on purpose, so I sent emails (as written evidence) informing and asking for a change. IF they say it's impossible, can I leave cleanly (not paying anything back)?

My contract says that if I quit and the reason isn't acceptable by the Labor Laws (Rodo Kijun Kantokusho) in a civil court hearing, that I will have to pay back initial costs, i.e. hotels and transportation from 1 whole month. I checked this document, and couldn't find any info.

Any insight would be great. thanks.

I don't know, but it might help to name your school.

Where are you, near Yokota?
If so, you call up the Hachioji labor office. They know English.

I am in Sayama, Saitama.

I think naming the school is against forum rules, and I really don't think it matters. It's mainly what's in the contract. The problem is it refers to this Rodo Kijun Kantokusho thing.

Probably the best thing is to try to see if the Labor Office speaks English.

It's not. I was thinking it could be applicable because different branches of a school or different schools might be more laxed than others concerning their rules and such so if someone here has experience at the school then they could give their story.
