Very Happy Hi everybody, it's been a while since I posted on this site as I had given up the idea of teaching in China, but now my situation has changed and I'm hoping to go there this August/September if everything works out (and if I still have time?)

I have a few questions that I hope you could help me with. Firstly, could somebody tell me the best place to look for jobs? I understand that perhaps you can't openly post links on here (although I don't know this for a fact) so please PM me the best sites that will allow me to directly contact schools, universities etc if the rules forbid posting them in an open thread. It would be genuinely appreciated and I would happily return the favour somehow. I don't particularly want to go through a recruiter unless somebody can recommend to me a reputable one, if such a thing even exists...? Confused

Secondly, I would like to know what I can expect with my credentials. I am a white British native speaker, aged 24, and recently took a CELTA without having had any teaching experience and got a Pass B. Since the start of April I've been teaching part-time in Prague for a big language company here, teaching post-secondary as well as a business class and a one-to-one, and doing a lot of lesson-planning and needs analysis without any set curriculum. I also have a BA in History and Politics.

Ideally, I'd like to teach at a Chinese University, or teach teenagers or young adults, preferably not in a language mill where I'm working a ridiculous number of hours a week. I would be happy with 6000RMB+ a month with a free apartment and some vacation time. Are these expectations realistic? I've been offered a couple of interviews but whenever I google the name of the institution, it's just warning after warning about serious contract breaches, no help with Z visa etc...

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Very realistic. I'd imagine you'd find a bunch of public schools and Uni's on this site alone for 6k and roughly 15-20 hours a week.. Keep in mind that 6k does not go far in many cities.

You can find the names of Uni's by searching wikipedia for whatever city you are interested in and looking under Education.

Just out of curiosity, what makes you think you'd be fine with 6k?

Too many variables, which is why I asked. I don't want to derail this thread but of course some can live comfortably on 6k....others can blow through half of that or more quite easily just on dating/going out.

September start sounds a long while away but hey the school admin/FAO etc go on holiday too!
We are 3 weeks away from end of semester and I'm surprised at your lack of awareness of the recruitment cycle.
6k is OK outside of Shangers and BJ, provided the other parts of the package are there. Accom on campus, airfare of 10K, subsidised cafs etc.
Seriousteachers.com is the easiest to register and make applications on. I fear the plum jobs may be gone by now though.
