Hi,
My wife and I are keen to teach English in either Bangkok or Vietnam, we are NZ citizens. We have no teaching experience however each plan to complete CELTA qualification. I have a Masters in Business Administration and my wife has a Bachelor of Design. We have successful business careers however would like to do something different for a couple of years. We love SE Asia and want to spend some time teaching there.
I was wondering if anyone would be prepared to give their opinion on where the best opportunities are right now and things to consider? Are visa's difficult to obtain? Do potential employers value business experience at all or does this not really matter?
Any advice would be gratefully received!
Regards,
Richard |

Do you qualify for a visa = yes.
Can you get a visa easily = yes.
Can you get a job easily = yes. Length of time searching will depend on time of year and country (in Thailand, 7 days for a job search if you are looking in May and 2 months if you are looking in December.)
You need to actually be here. You WON'T find anything decent while sitting in your living-room back in NZ.

No and no, it does not really matter. The majority of jobs are teaching kids.
If you want to work teaching at what you do then you will need time to network and make the connections to make it happen.
