22 is a totally low number anyway. Have a look at this title and see how many more entries there are for the UK:

And there is no other guide but Wiki:

British accents:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_accents_of_English#England

North American accents:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_English_regional_phonology

The numbers speak for themselves...

Dear Sasha,

Tsk, tsk - you seem to be confusing quantity with quality Very Happy

Dear Johnslat

There was never any confusion over quantity on my part. Quality is in the ear of the beholder. Unless you can show me hard evidence of the higher quality of one accent over the other?

Regards

Sasha

Dear Sasha,

Ah, quality - it's such a subjective - umm - quality Very Happy

Of course, for those of us who are highly trained, it's not so difficult, but understandably, you are encountering problems.

Regards,
H(Highly) T(trained) John

Dear Johnslat

In what way? Military training, you mean? As for problems, I am not having any. Not with quantity - I can count just fine, and have no issues seeing that the comments about North America having more accents and variety are just not borne out by the facts. Not with quality either - unless you wish to suggest that your accent is of a higher quality or indeed more highly-trained.

Now remind me again why this is on the General Discussion Forum?

Regards

Sasha

Dear Sasha,

"Now remind me again why this is on the General Discussion Forum?"

Why, to give you the opportunity to cavil, of course. Very Happy

And really - no need to express your gratitude. Por nada, amigo.

Regards,
John

Dear Johnslat

Why, that is so thoughtful of you! How did you know it was what I have always wanted? But I must disagree about the need to express my gratitude. There really is need. Others will surely disagree and say it is not so, but I will argue with them to the death too, rest assured...

Regards

Sasha
