This is nothing new to the "well respected academic." I remember him telling me his first year teaching with EdEx about where he is usually sitting in court. It isn't in the counsel chair or on the plaintiff's side. Go to it guys, put up the fight this time. |

it's best to avoid signing on with what the OP referred to as "villainous hosts." |
Absolutely. But none of this has surprised me, like many others I was half expecting to get my fingers burnt, but hoping it wouldn't happen to me. I was in a tight spot so I signed.

Wallbanger, a 'respected' academic, was severely outclassed and hammered in the run up to the court date in email exchanges, what neither of the 'dangerous brothers' seem to know is that there are enough teachers at the sandcastle who have legal documentation that clearly shows the company took a hammering in court and that the teachers under their charge have legitimate recourse for any potential thievery. |
Churchillian! Indeed, teachers are arriving at their office with irrefutable proof that robbie_davies' pal did indeed get back what was his. It remains to be seen if money owed is coughed up before employees fly out because of this, but we will know soon.
If previous patterns of behavior are repeated as robbie_davies expects, this new information will encourage many to go to court. |

Without knowing the specifics of the situation, it's all conjecture at this point. |
I'm holding back a bit because current disputes have until July 3rd to be resolved. I'm sure you will agree that this is fair.
If we're shafted you can expect to read about it, but the story would be a familiar one! |

Well, my pal is emotional at this point that people are doing this and putting the legal documentation to good use. It wasn't for nothing, that what was done is going to help many others out at this worrying and stressful time, that, you aren't going to get thrown out with the indignity of being robbed by these thieves and crooks.
All of us are there for one thing, it is easy to say money, but it is not just about money, we have dreams, hopes, ambitions. Mine was to go back to the UK and do a masters degree and now I am in Wales doing one, I couldn't have done it without going away to Saudi Arabia. But a year spent a mile away from the Yemeni border was tough, away from my fiancee and my family and friends, teaching disinterested students and getting it in the neck from over officious admin as well as the heat, the segregation, the boredom, the bus ride to work everyday - we all know what we have to put up with and that is why my mate took it as an affront that Wallbanger and the Gorilla thought they could steal our money knowing the vulnerable position we were/are all in.
My mate told everyone who would listen before he left he was going to teach the company a big lesson if they tried ripping him off to which they did. When he got home, he didn't know if he was going to be successful, everything he learned was via a google search engine and the grace of the man above. He knew he had to go out swinging or go down trying and when he won the case on March the 1st, St David's day in Wales and my mates birthday! We did it, not just for him but that any future teacher working for the company knew they had an avenue to exploit to get what they are owed. It is their right to get that money.
A message to all British and American teachers.
It is a duty to get that money and to take these people to the cleaners if need be. Do it for yourselves, your dreams, your ambitions, your families who have missed you as you have been away working in a big sandcastle, but also do it for your South African, Australian, New Zealand and Canadian colleagues who will not be able to do a damn thing about being ripped off by these unscrupulous *beep*. There are naysayers everywhere - even on this thread who will tell you it can't be done, but it can be done and it has been done and if you need any real world confirmation then drop me a PM. I will send you the proof that it has been done.
It is now your turn to teach these *beep* a lesson.
Go and get your money, you have earned every penny of it, the damned hard way.
It is your duty to take what is yours and from the hands of unscrupulous thieves.
Do it. |

You could also tag on a claim for stress caused and the Wilkinson and Downton tortious claim of doing intentional harm; also request punitive damages as it looks as though this company is intentionally ripping ppl off, which is bordering on criminal liability in the UK. In particular, check any statements they have made that you can prove were made to be knowingly false and which gave them a financial (pecuniary) advantage - this is a criminal offence in the UK and can help persaude a judge to increase the level of compensation. |

Or yop could be sensible and just walk away. Learn from the experience and next time, choose a better master. |
