This is an Australia-based recruiter and a very, very minor play among all of the recruiters in China. Since they are located out-of-country, they do not usually recruit directly from Chinese-schools but rather participate in a hand-me-down recruiting efforts -- they receive jobs from Chinese recruiters who cannot fill them in-country or through their own means.
If you really want to use a recruiter, please do your due dilligence. There are major recruiters in China who corner most of the market and there is one very, very major Beijing recruiter, actually a portal for SAFEA, who corners just about all of the market in the public sector and touches upon some of the private sector.
Any job secured through a minor player is a job that other agencies could or would not fill. |

I first used this company 4 years ago when I was looking for a job in Thailand. They were very helpful and I had 2 positions at 2 different schools - one in Bangkok and the other in Hua Hin. Then when I decided to move to China earlier this year I contacted them and was able to get a job in a school in Guangzhou.
Yes it is true they are Aussies and have been finding teachers for Thai schools for a number of years. As for China, they only moved into this country last year. But one thing they don't do is they do not deal with Chinese recruiters but contact schools and institutions directly. One of the guys there had had a bad experience with Chinese recruiters when he was looking for a teaching job in the past, which is the reason why they do not touch them.
If anyone's wanting a recruiter who cares, then I'd recommend these guys. |

Five years on this board and only one post and that is to recommend an agent? Caution here. |

I wonder if they really waited 5 years to pull it off.
I wouldn't be concerned about it being the only entry from this user, but the fact that it sounds like a neat commercial or a most obviously faked testimonial. |

Xiao51 - Maybe I have only had 1 post in 5 years, so what. And no what I wrote is NOT "a neat commercial or a most obviously faked testimonial", as Another Expat put it. I rarely read the forum and when I do, I have found that there's a mix of people with some relevant queries about teaching or bitching about nothing - and yes maybe that's what I'm doing right here.
Your profile shows you're an ESL teacher, BUT I wonder are you REALLY a teacher or just another recruitment agent trying to drum up some business for yourself. I have read other items on the China forum and see you are quite knowledgeable about various issues that most teachers would not know about whereas an agent would or should be.
Also where do you get your information on recruiters from? You mentioned about a "very, very major Beijing recruiter, actually a portal for SAFEA". Is this you? If so, then I'd be interested to know your website as I might move to Beijing in the future. |

To sfBrad & AllisonBrowne & any others,
As I mentioned some time ago, I used Edcomasia to find me a job in Thailand and China, and they were very helpful. They contact schools directly NOT like what Xiao51 says. They helped me get a couple of great jobs in China. Now I'm moving back to Thailand, and have contacted them once again as they are native speakers and know what's what unlike alot of the Chinese and Thai recruiters who only want to get you into a school so they can get the commission. |

Got my current job in China through them, too. Feel free to PM me with questions about them.

choudoufu - khun_and & Khun And are the same person. I registered both names so no one could play off one name for the other. Sorry if you're confused.
Also this is a forum for helping teachers find jobs and get some feedback about schools, recruiters, etc. It's not for back biting and nope that's not what I'm doing either.
Have a great weekend !! |

Kuhn who pays you the recruiter or the school? How many people get a piece of the teacher's salary?
The problem is that today new teachers in China must be from outside. People like Choutofu and I have seen the scams so recruiters are now working with recruiters in Australia and other English speaking countries to attract teachers. So there are two recruiters getting paid for each teacher.
I think China is like Korea in that the government wants to authorize people to do the checking for them. So you have official recuiters and sub recruiters.
We're living in a sanctioned Walmart world N'est pas? |
