Interesting discussion on the issue of FB, and whether or not it is good for the people. Would make a good IELTS topic. Yeah, I think for the average VN student, it turns into an addictive waste of time, but we all have our vices. Not like they can go out and walk in the park instead, most of them have some rather bad choices on what to do with their free time. Lord knows I wasted my share of time on other things in my youth.
I do think that the issue of using social media as a mass mobilization tool for political purposes is a different discussion, and I do not think it is much of an issue here in real life. But I do think that is why govts are interested in banning it. They may also be using the intermittent nature of the bans as a warning to folks, if you start using it for political purposes, it goes, if you just want to show pictures of yourselves jumping in unison, fine.
What I am hearing is they can get on with their mobile devices but not with their real computers. If folks are getting on with their desktops/laptops, please share a link on the current workaround. |

I've been getting on with my laptop from my house with no trouble. It also works on all the computers at my school. Im not using any workaround. I have noticed that it doesn't work at some cafes and restaurants while it will work at others. |

Facebook seems to be a site where people want to post the most uninteresting, bland, uninformative rubbish. I really dont need to know that its raining at someones house and they are sad. Many young Vietnamese here ask me if I have Facebook, I just say I dont use it. |
