I am an American going to teach in China in September. I am living outside of the country at the moment. Therefore, I cannot go to the local police station. To expedite the criminal record check, I ordered a background investigation from an online company. My boss said that the document suffices. I'm concerned because there isn't a stamp. Has anyone else used a private company for the CRC and if so, has it been accepted?

Don't mean to hijack your topic, but where are you teaching? I've never been asked for a CBC.

Yes, it is in reference to the changes that went into effect on July 1. My school is in Jiangsu. They are now requiring the CRC.

My school is near Suzhou.

In Beijing in order to get a FEC you will need a criminal background check the same is true for inner Mongolia. Schools outside of this area are seemingly making independent decisions whether or not to require a CBC.

In other words if Suzhou has 100 schools it might be that 50 of them are requiring the CBC now, it's not the immigration office that is making the demand it's the school itself in these cases.
