Does anyone know the proper dates for this?

Does anyone know which colleges let the teachers go on a vacation for this? (Does KSU?)

Eid-Al-Adha is a national day (holiday) in the Magic Kingdom, and you are entitled to this holiday from KSU or any other academic or government institution.
The dates for 2013 will be from October 10 to October 19/20.

Is that a firm start date in Saudi? It never was in the UAE or Oman. It depended on when Ramadhan ended... which depended on the sighting of the moon.

VS, I think you are confusing 'Eid-Al-Fitr' with 'Eid-Al-Adha'.
Eid-Al-Fitr will depend on when Ramadan end, whereas Eid-Al-Adha is related to the Hajj period, and celebrates the sacrifice during the pilgrimage to Mecca. - the period will be around 10th of October.

State Universities and Community Colleges have the same holiday schedule.

VS isn't confusing the two - exactly when Ramadan begins and ends affects exactly when Hajj begins and ends.

The exact dates of the Eid-Al-Adha feast days are dependent upon the exact dates of the Eid-Al-Fitr feast days.

Regards,
John

I just want to make sure about something. If I take a job in Saudi Arabia, at KSU for example, that I will be able to fly out of the country during those dates in October- there is an event in October in America that I need to book now, but I will lose a lot of money if I end up not being allowed to go. I just want to make sure they don't make teachers stay during that Hajj period for "workshops", or refuse to let them leave the country. Thank you!

I wonder if these dates, particularly the start date, might shift due to the change of weekends from Thurs. and Fri. to Fri. and Sat.

Yes, well it's unusual for a country to change the days of the weekend too. Before the change, the holiday was scheduled to begin on a Thursday. I was speculating that perhaps it will now begin on a Friday instead.

I would assume that the start would stay Thursday, as it wasn't "chosen" based on the timing of the weekend. This is set by religion which trumps all... not like say, the US where they blithely move holidays to match a weekend. If the government steps in and adjusts dates, it would be the end of the holiday... where they decide the length. But the religious authorities (assisted by the moon) decide the start.
