Do you give any sliding scales, offers or similar? I've seen people use different prices dependent on the type of lesson, which strikes me as a bit of a faff.

How do you go about attracting private students ?

Conversation lessons are usually easy to prepare so it´s normal for them to be cheaper. Plus any old native can give a conversation class so there is more competition.

The price depends on the part of Spain you are in, whether you have to go to their house or they go to yours, and how many people there are in the class. Your experience is relevant too of course!

The best way to find out the prices in your area is by going to sites like mundoanuncios, loquo, clases paticulares etc. and seeing how much the competition are charging.
You can print out signs or you can advertize free online or both. If there is an EOI in your town most EOIs have a message board you are allowed to put things on, and since they don´t offer private classes you are not the competition.

The dream is to get people in pairs and get them to pay 10 euros each. 20 euros an hour is not bad at all!
The only hard part is finding 2 people at the same level.

For one-on-one students: It would be good to keep them confined to 25€ per hour, and only dip down to 20€ with students taking 3 or more hours per week.
Naturally you can evaluate what type of discount you'll offer for groups, but I'm just not a fan of groups
Time commitment: be smart about this -- explain from the start that you expect them to come to class the amount of hours that you set with them. That means, if they're sick or have some other engagement, they make it a priority to schedule a make-up class that week. And don't do it open-ended. Tell them classes are for a tri-mester, and they'll reach a certain level.
