I'm gonna be in Tokyo for a few days in two weeks. A few questions and if anyone could help I'd really appreciate it:
1. I'm gonna go to fish auction. It starts really early so I was planning on staying out all night and then heading there, then back to my lodging. Is there any fun nightlife in that area that anyone knows about?
2. I'm in Korea and "Love" motels are easy to find/ everywhere. I've heard this is true in Japan as well. Just wondering if I should need to book everything of if I can more go with the flow.
3. What is your favorite thing to do in Tokyo?
4. What's the best way to get in touch with a Sumo house? I've heard that the competitions aren't happening now but that I can watch them train.
5. What's the deal with this boat:

I've sent emails and stuff. The English website doesn't work. I really wanna book a night there but I can't figure out how.
Thanks A TON for any help. |

Many love hotels won't let you check in solo (but maybe that is not your plan). Don't book at love hotels, but do for hostels in the summer. |

Motels are one of the few things that Korea wins over Japan with. A love motel in Seoul will, for $30-40, consist of quite a large room, with a flatscreen TV, perhaps even a Nintendo Wii built into the cabinet or a heart shaped bathtub in the bathroom or some other novelty - they're often quite nice places to stay even if you're not intending to shag. By contrast in Tokyo you can expect a cramped, yellowing festhole in some 60's or 70's built building, intended for horny people who really do just want anything slightly better than a public toilet to shag in for 2-3 hours.
Of course, standards of food, drink, and hospitality are generally higher in Japan overall, but just not motels, and not relative to the price. |
