I just received an offer from this university without any interview - which I find weird. I am interested only because I would like to teach at a uni and accommodation is provided.
Has anyone had any direct experience of working for them? I read one thread from 2004 which was very negative but the poster didn't say why.
Thanks! |

Is there any possible way a school which doesn't bother conducting at least a token interview be any good? |

That's true - and even if they are happy to take someone on The basis of their CV, they should realise that an interview is a two way thing, the candidate deserves the opportunity to ask questions too! I wondered if this is normal practice in Turkey. |

I would definitely say this is not "normal practice" for a university hiring. However, according to friends who live in Adana, Cag University is a private university that caters for the spoilt, rich kids from the Adana area who have failed to gain a place at a state university in the Turkish University Entrance Exam.
I haven't worked at, or even visited, Cag University but I doubt any student from a cosmopolitan area such as Istanbul, Izmir or Ankara would choose to go there as it is about 20 miles west of Adana.
However, if you check out the university website, there are about 10 native speaker teachers(mostly Americans) in the Preparatory School staff and all have e-mail addresses. Perhaps you could block e-mail them and hope one replies. |
