Has anyone heard of this?
My visa expires Sept 10th. I thought there was a three month extension but they are saying that three months starts on July 1 and not your visa end date.
This is rather important because even though I have started the process there is some doubt whether I will have that form in my hand by Oct 1.
So if I do not have my CBC authenticated by then then game over- no extension of the visa? |

Would depend on the province you are in, they may or may not require one to extend your visa. |

Did they specify exactly what kind of CBC you have to get? You could possibly do one with your state, online. Some states will instantly issue you a certificate if you have no record. I am pretty sure that since it has not been specified that you need a federal background check, some places do accept state, or even local police CBC's. If you go the online state check route it may cost you $10. |

I can get any kind of criminal check.
The problem is it has to be authenticated by the Chinese consulate in the US.
So after the I get the check it has to be notarized locally.
Then it has to be authenticated by my state.
Then it has to be authenicated by the State Department.
Then and only then will the Chinese consulate authenticate it.
There is no guarantee all of this will be done by Oct 1. |

Where in China is this a requirement now? First time I've heard of it. |

Depends on where you are.
Beijing requires it.
Then it seems to be up to the luck of the draw. |

Right, I know Beijing has a crc check, but I've never heard of it having to be notaraized/verified by four different agencies. State Department? Seriously?
I wonder if this isn't a case of a fao not knowing the requirements. Easy enough since apparently nobody including the psb really knows for certian. |

Just google criminal background check and your state.
Most states will let you order one with no fingerprints required.
However some do require fingerprints in which case it makes it that much harder for you- but in that case I would suggest you call someone at home and have them to go to a local police office and get you one from there. |
