| I just received an offer, contract from a recruiter based and it made me physically sick, some of the clauses would be deemed illegal in the UK. How can recruiters get away with this and what kind of people accept these conditions/jobs??? Lots of awful stuff, the main ones; the agency will make u work summer and winter camps at another school in Turkey (they decide where) and you can't refuse, this is during the holiday. Salary paid on the 10th (should be 5th by law). If you're sick with doctors note they'll deduct 1 days pay, 2 days without.. If you don't submit your lesson plans weekly they'll deduct a weeks pay. You must tell them if u travel for more than 24 hours, u must have a phone so they can contract you. U r not employed to a single school but they will move u when required as of staffing needs , again teacher has no say.. |

| Why are you bothering with a recruiter? Just apply directly to schools. |

| In answer to your question, people accept those conditions as being part of the job, and as you want to work at a specfic uni thats what you have to put up with. However, how much time and energy is devoted to making sure you follow those rules to the letter is shall we say,,,, hmmm flexible! |

Yes, you're right. I think my biggest concern was the whole winter/summer camp thing, I know the uni is closed during these times and I know the recruiter will prob find work for me at a high-school summer camp and make me work (I guess the recruiter thinks I should sing and dance for my pay), besides have accepted a job with a TED school now.
Thanks, |

Out of the 4 people I've spoken to who have worked for TED only one has spoken bad of them, and that person wasn't a certified teacher or had any previous teaching experience..
So I guess out of the 2 I guess it"s better.
PS - like most places, I think you only get paid summer if you renew your contract which said person didn't. |

| And I'm not being negative towards that person, what I meant is that by reading the TED contract they expect more from a teacher (they pay considerably) more, too. And as a newbie it's probably not the easiest gig in town.. Let's face it, as a newbie teacher things are thought! |
