thats why I was asking, since HCT is actually saying they are looking for a MA TESOL plus a CELTA, but I thought HCT is the easiest to get into out of those three? would not having the CELTA work against me? I really don't feel like paying money to teach students for free in a language school so they can tell me how to teach English after having done it for 8 years. Its like having a certificate showing that you can tie your shoe laces.
if you want to get into a slanging match over CELTAs and TESOLs go for it, thats all I was saying. |

Where are you getting that info from? The requirements I posted in my initial response came directly from HCT's last (and now their current) job ad. |

That has never been a requirement at HCT. In fact, I don't know of any major tertiary employer outside of a couple in Saudi, that 'requires' this combination. All ask for a related MA (plus a few years of experience) and a very few will take a BA+CELTA+probably more experience than with an MA.
For instance, HCT mentions BA+CELTA in their ads, but hire almost zero without the MA during the normal hiring period. It is in there because each year when they are doing their panic hiring from the local market because they need one or two more teachers because the Ministry sent them more students than they said that they would, they can't be as choosy. When I was there, they even hired some with just a BA and experience... and then helped them get a CELTA. (and a couple went on to get an MA I hear).

No one ever said that it was bad to share accommodation with one's wife.
Now, sharing accommodation with the voices in one's head, that's something completely different! |
