Not likely since the teaching contracts generally begin at the start of each academic year. However, you could continue to check the job boards as well as the employment pages of individual universities for any mid-year openings. But don't hold your breath since most recruiting/hiring starts in early spring. |

Keep watching their websites and the usual job ad locations for mid-year jobs. Positions often show up, but they normally try to get local hires because of the time constraint for visas.

watching individual websites is like a full time job was just looking at the aus website and finding the positioin took 20 minutes. i feel like i have two jobs at the moment and i know one of them is really hard work.
i only want to go in 2014 though so passing these positions when they are last minute scrambling seems like shooting myself in the foot.
hct looks so desperate looks like they will take anyone with a pulse and a tie. then when i apply next year they are going to be picky. |

Not sure how you get that impression. Because once one gets a job there, you are surrounded by teachers with MAs and significant experience. Good pay and benefits trump their reputation... and it is still the biggest employer at tertiary level.
