This is a major embarrassment as Mexico tries to improve its bad education system:

Yeah. One of my nephews is actually on the waiting list for a place in the High School here, because it is full. He has to wait till someone either drops out or is kicked out of school before he can even attend. There are no other options, no private schools, etc. So he is likely going to take a year off and work, and try again next year.

But, mistakes in textbooks are not just in Mexican schools. My son attending a private school in he US his last year of High School and his books had LOADS of errors as well, I lost count after 100 in his Spanish books, things like would is a past tense verb, you MUST have an object if you use the present progressive tense, and factual errors like where people were from, Carlos Santana is American, don´t you know, and the group Maná is from Argentina. Perhaps the book´s editor just didn´t like Jaliso, who knows, since both are from there. Paella is a Mexican food, another ¨fact¨ I didn´t know. His History book was so biased it wasn´t funny instead of just presenting facts. These are just a few things off the top of my head. Perhaps not as bad as the textbooks in Mexico, will have to take a look at my nephews´ books next time I am at their house, but I think education in general, everywhere is getting more and more watered down.
