They are currently advertising job vacancies for EFL teachers. Does anyone have any updated information about conditions there and life in Jeddah?

Teaching load at KAAU is light. Salary not all it might be. Unless you are a holder of a PhD, they will not offer you housing, but give you a housing allowance. This might be adequate for a samll apartment in a Third World suburb of Jeddah. I am not sure about the deal with educational allowances for dependent children. Jeddah is to me the best place in Saudi Arabia. A vibrant, international city. For Saudi it is liberal.

Have you considered other universities in the Kingdom ? KFUPM ?

There are lots of universities in Saudi Arabia. The most prestigious is King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.

My advice is do not come to teach in a university here unless you have experience in Saudi or other M.E. countries

I do have experience of Saudi. Information about educational establishments is the problem. Having browsed the forum I see that there is not all that much information on Saudi Universities.

My background is business, but I have been teaching ESOL here in the UK for the last two years. I am currently doing an MA in Education. I would like to find work in Saudi but only in a higher education institution. I would appreciate any details you can provide.
