This may sound like a stupid question but I've got to ask.

I have 3 days left before a supposed departure to a land and job I've never been too before. Now, I have been given a bit of information about the job but I have yet to receive a contract. I have asked at least twice for one, but it has on both occasions been 'forgotten' or not addressed.

I know I shouldn't go anywhere without a contract but I just wanted to ask on your opinions and experiences.

You'd be a fool to get on that plane.

Have you received the air tickets? Do you have a visa?

And what university/city are you going to?

If you haven't got any of this information then - stay put-

If they want you they'll chase you & send you the contract and the ticket.
Unless you're desperate for a job think -logically!

I worked at KAU and new hires never sign a contract until arriving in Jeddah and going to HR during the first week. At that time, you would sign an official contract. Maybe this is the same process with the place you are going to. Question You will get an offer letter via email, but not a contract. If you are working with a larger, gov't university as a direct hire, you should get on the plane. If you are working for a sub-contractor and you are not a direct hire, I can understand not getting on the plane. Good luck.

Ahh, ok, I didn't know it could be that way too, but had an inkling things 'are done differently'. I am a direct hire.

Thanks.

Contracts are often signed AFTER arrival - even with some of the better employers. You really should do a proper study of "Alice in Wonderland" before you come.
