Do you mean , send your passport and docs from Guam to the HK agent? I think this is not advisable, nor maybe even possible (too risky for you and the agent to lose your passport in the post. ).
If you mean, fly from Guam to HK and make the Z visa there, yes this what Garphilius did (Ukraine- HK -China) , but it depends on the school specifying in the invitation letter that you will apply for the Z visa in HK (not in your home country). |

Sorry, I have not been able to reply to messages posted on this thread as I have been busy settling in, in Beijing.
Here are some answers (sorry if I missed some):
-I am a US Citizen. I had not issues with the embassy in HK, like already stated. Next day service WAS an option for me AND I took it AND I was going for a Z-Visa, like stated on the forum.
-Teaching Math in Beijing
-If you go to the embassy on Friday, I can almost guarantee it will be quite empty. When I went back on Monday (same time that I went on Friday) to pick up my passport with visa, there was a huge queue outside. However, the whole process to pick up the visa on Monday was extremely quick, as most people who were there on Monday were going to apply for the visa, not really to pick up visa. So as soon as I got up to the 3rd floor (where they do all the visa stuff,) I got my ticket, I was called in less than 30 seconds, I paid, waited 1 minute and was called again to pick up my passport. If it was not for the 25 minute queue outside, I would have been out of the embassy in record time, less than 3 minutes! I think Thursday would not be bad either.
-I do not know the rules or mechanics for the F-visa, sorry.
-As far as "Visa Runs," I can almost say that if you are a US citizen with a job in Beijing, have the work permit/invitation letter stating HK on it, you can do this in 2 days, only having to stay one night. Of course, if you have the medical check already from China or you get into HK early with an appointment already and having taken the exam already in China or another country. It is definitely doable, I could have done it if planned a bit better (doing the medical on Thursday and running to the embassy, requesting next day pick up.) I would have left to China right after picking up with passport on Friday.
Good luck everyone!
Feel free to PM with specific information and if I know it, I will share it. Also note that reply time will be slow, getting settled in China. |
