Hello anyone reading this!

I've recently finished a 40-hour TEFL course, so although I'm not the most-qualified EFL-teacher around, apparently there are still places that will have me:-)

I've been looking on the internet for jobs in Spain and South America (I want to improve my Spanish), so far without much success. However, I've heard that the best way to get work is to turn up in your chosen location and start knocking on doors and looking at local job adverts (sounds sensible to me).

This is where I run into problems though. I can get to Spain cheaply (I live in England), but I've heard their language schools can afford to be quite picky about who they take on and I suspect I'd need more experience/qualifications before they'd be interested in me.

From what I've heard, I'd stand a better chance of finding work in South America, but the problem with that is that it's expensive to get there, so I'd need to find work VERY quickly before I started running into debt.

Any opinions/advice on this subject would be most welcome!

If you have a british passport you are more likely to get a job than someone with a us passport. I think that there is less competition in smaller cities. Though Madrid is good as well. Chekc out the Spain and Latin America forums. There are lots of links. I think that one of them is madridman.com and some about teaching in Spain, but I don't remember them.
It might be difficult to arrange a job beforehand though.
