The Leceister MA in applied ling looks like the best out there. Anyone done it? Would be very appreciative to hear what you think! Or if there are any other programmes out there worth their salt?
Take care!

Been there done that. Was well satisfied but it is very much what you yourself make of it. I found it very good value for money. My tutors were generally very supportive although I had one bad one which I demanded changed. They handled it well and I got a new tutor within a week or so.
I particularly liked the fact that I could specialise in Module 5 and choose a couple of things that I was particularly interested in. |

Shmooj, you`re supposed to play nice.
I just started a masters in applied linguistics with USQ (u of Southern Queensland). So far, so good. It`s my first week. I have found them very prompt with all my requests and the material seems top-notch. |

I liked especially Module 2 where we learned how to spell "Leicester".
Now I have done advanced spelling I feel better equipped to teach. |

I did diatnce learning from Leicester some years back. It was fine. What I liked was the option to stop and take an "Advanced Certificate" without going all the way to MA. I do not know if that option is still open.
I managed to do mine while holding down a full-time job and working in the evening. Did not see much of my family at this time though ! |

Yep, the Advanced Cert, FWIW, is still par for the course as it were.
I did the whole MA for three years holding down a job and putting my wife on hold poor girl. It was a heck of a lot of work and you do have to be very disciplined.
Gordon - play nice? Wodja mean? |

I don't think my daughter will let me be put her on hold for 2-3 years. |
