What is "skint"? |

| UK for 'broke.'. I did say that salaries in the region are less than stellar on your thread. |

The more I keep hearing about Russia the more appealing it sounds. Those pictures of Chernobyl really make me want to go there - I'm serious! Call me crazy? I think there's something about cold weather and grey skies that build character and authenticity. Something to think about for the future.
Lived near the equator for too long I think... Maybe the grass is greener even in Hawaii, where I live, more in the desire to experience a different place than one is used to.
Anyways Japan is a good place to go but can have challenges. Some people like it and stay forever, some leave within a few months, and some stay a year.
Pros
-Clean, safe.
-Amazing architecture
-Interesting and very different.
-Amazing art and history, pop culture.
Cons
-Expensive
-Strict society
I'd say it's a good place but very traditional, which can be good and bad.

Chernobyl isn't in Russia. It's in the Ukraine.
But you are right about everything else. Life IS more authentic. People have more character here. The grass IS greener.
Come to Russia!
As for jobs in St Petersburg, I don't really know much about that, except that it seems to be a much smaller market with fewer opportunities than here in Moscow. |
