Is it true that the new Law states that one has to have an exit visa even for a 90 day visa from the company?

This news seems to be doing the rounds in KSA..

Please tell me it's not TRUE! Sad HELP!

What exactly do you mean by "90-day" visa?

Visit visa/employment visa leading onto Iqama.... didn't even do the medical apparently in KSA. Did it back home (medical that is).

News around ICEAT is that a teacher had the above visa and was denied boarding due to not having an 'exit visa'. She'd resigned, bought her own ticket which she subsequently lost, but possibly the company paid for another ticket.

Just wondered what this new game is!

Oh...you need an Exit Only or Exit/ReEntry visa or you're going NOWHERE!

I never could understand the hang-up people had (with working visas) over their companies holding onto their passports. Passports become wholly useless once the Entry stamp to Saudi Arabia is placed in it.

The only way out is with an Exit visa...

You are, essentially, an indentured servant!

Visit visas (i.e., work visit visas, business visit visas that are effective for 90 days) and temporary work visas do not lead to an iqama (residence permit) and therefore, don't require an exit visa to leave the Kingdom. An employment visa serves as entry into the country for the purpose of legal employment but is also valid for 90 days. During that time frame, the employer must process the employee's paperwork toward a residence permit. Once the iqama has been issued, an exit visa is required each time the permit holder needs to depart the country. That seems to fit the scenario you illustrated.

Anyway, I'd guess that "new game" you referred to is the same old game sketchy companies like ICEAT continue to play.

I think it is still not clear whether, when you have an Employment visa and haven't yet begun processing the iqama, you are able to leave the country or not. Anyone know?

If you have an employment visa, you'll need a multiple exit/entry visa or a single exit/entry visa or a final exit visa to leave Saudi. BUT, you cannot obtain these until you have an Iqama.

HP....

You can get an exit visa from the employers even if you have a 90 day employment visa which is awaiting to become an Iqama.

Relating to this non ending issue of employment visa and Iqama, what happens if someone becomes so depressed that they get an exit/re-entry visa, but don't come back to Saudi?

What are the penalties? Question

Not if your passport is out of your possession pending processing of your iqama. Plus, unless you have some sort of emergency, I doubt leaving during your probationary period would sit well with many employers.

None, since it's very unlikely he/she would return to a country and/or living/work situation they weren't able to mentally cope with.

Well, you will get banned for two years to enter the Magic Kingdom.
