I'd like some advice. I am lucky to have my job and I love it. I work at a university teaching 15 hours a week. I have a flexible schedule and just need to be around for a few office hours a week. I'm on vacation about 4 months a year. I teach a few extra classes throughout the year, live frugally and am able to save over $10,000 USD a year.

However, I am feeling a little restless with the country and culture. I know I would be crazy to leave such a great job but I'm wondering what else is out there. Do the university jobs in the Middle East have the same flexibility and earning potential? I have looked at many ads but allowing teachers to work privates or leave school isn't something that's really advertised.

I have my master's in TESOL and 3 years of university experience. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Flexibility? No

Teaching hours are up to 20+ in most places and the majority also think people should be chained to their desks for 35-40 hours a week. Some places may have the chance for overtime, but almost all contracts say that no work outside of the contract is allowed. (that said... some people very discreetly do privates)

Max of 2 months in the summer... some are only one month. A week or two between semesters and Muslim holidays (which don't have set dates so starts and finishes can be unpredictable which makes planning travel difficult)

All negatives right? The positive is that one could, with even minimal frugality, save 3 times the money.

Which is most important to you?
