I won't take up much space in a tangent to the original post. But, since I have offended ESL master (whose very nickname is incorrect for teaching overseas), and he/she has seen it fit to reverberate with thunderous sarcasm in a totally hostile response, here I go.

No, I don't have a serious bone to pick with Japan, nor with you...

Could've fooled me with your rantings. I was merely pointing out the inaccuracy of your posting. Forgive me for using blatant facts to do so.

Perhaps what I should have pointed out clearly was that if you are an eclectic person, as I am, and need to have a VARIETY of activities to keep mentally stimulated, well, it may be a bit too expensive to keep your drive satiated in Japan.

Perhaps you should. Your original post was far too general, which is why I responded.

Quote:
Look, it is useless to argue our opinions.

Then why did you jump down my throat instead of letting the other readers make up their own minds about our two opposing opinions?

I will admit that Japan is a GROOVY place to spend time, MAKE A LOT of friends, learn a lot about yourself. But it will cost a bit, and trying to do all of this on one JET salary only makes it more difficult to explore life here in Japan.

This would've sufficed in your original post.

I have actually experienced Japan in Tokyo (Chiba), and Kumamoto for a grand total of 3 years. All due to college teaching programs and/or JET Program. And you???)

Two places in 3 years and you are trying to tell people about the whole country? FYI, I have lived in Japan twice as long as you, and I have spent time in over 3 dozen cities on 3 of the major islands. Not that it matters, I guess. It's all relative. Have a nice day.

Don't give up hope yet. You could always go out there without him and suss things out to see if there might be any openings. He could join you later. There's likely to be more opportunities in bigger cities but I guess you don't know where you're going yet, right? There's nothing to stop him taking extended holidays with you in Japan, and he could also use that time to test the water.

Let us know how you get on. I hope it all works out for you and your good man.
