To eligible for the money, do I need to be with(registered/start date/etc.) the pension system for 6 months OR have paid for 6 months OR both?
Any insight would be appreciated. |

Last bump. I REALLY would like to know. I can't find any exact clarification. |

I don't have any information myself (my refund was for 3 years' worth), but I was wondering if maybe clarifying your question might help. Are you asking whether you have to have paid into the pension system for >6 months, or just enrolled (but not paid?) for >6 months? I would guess that you would have had to pay into the system in order to get a refund.
Or, were you enrolled in the pension system for 6 months, but only paid for, say, 3 months of that time? |

Are you in Japan?
If outside Japan, contact an embassy. |

Thanks for the replies finally.
I am in Japan still and working. I'm quitting as soon as I become eligible for the pension. I see that in my blue book that I was enrolled on 7/6 and it was first deducted from my paycheck on 7/25. It seems weird that I became insured before my first actual payment so thats why its a tad confusing. |
