| It's too bad that "opportunities to learn Arabic" isn't listed as one of the pluses for living in a smaller city....As you would be one of the only foreigners there, it would be easier to practice with locals (supplemented by formal instruction) than it would in Riyadh or Dammam... |

| Opportunities to socialise with Saudis are limited, in Hail or Riyadh. Most have limited social contact outside their own family and kinship groupings. |

True, but I believe that Westerners living in Hail and Buraydah get more invites with Saudis than those living in Riyadh, if only for the fact that they are such a novelty in those areas... |
