Hi everyone, i'm new to teaching english overseas, and i just got offered a contract to teach in taiwan through the KOJEN teaching organization. I'm mainly wondering about the pay rate, and also how easy it will be to pick up extra work. The pay rate is NT 550 per hour and i'm guarunteed at least 18 hours a week. I was planning on picking up some extra hours in another teaching job, maybe for more money than 550 p/h???? How easy is it to pick up a bit of extra work on the side?

I've got a masters degree in psychology, but no real teaching experience. Any advice on whether the pay rate is about what i should expect, or whether i would find it easy to pick up extra work would be much appreciated!!

I worked for Kojen and they are not bad. They are definitely one of the better chain schools. I would suggest going to the Job Information Board and reading my post called Kojen preschools. It was written at the beginning of last year so things may have changed.

Consider taking a Kojen a preschool position. Its a mon to fri position from 9 to 4 with 20 hours guaranteed. No saturdays.

You should be able to pick up extra work without too many problems.
