Good stuff.
This forty something has, after eight months here in the Middle Kingdom, begun reducing the milk to seek the cream.
Currently at a primary school; 20 hours, period, they can slice it up any way they want, they prefer I am in the class room. I earn just under 12k with paid holidays. I edited my contract eight times, time will determine full adherence to its terms. Going to try to renew soon and get summer pay.
Collectively, we need less twenty somethings taking in the teeth, because they don't know any better. Push comes to shove, these bitches roll over, if, you make them money, and you do. Don't forget that, you wouldn't be here if you didn't.
I pretend I give half a shit in the classroom. I am not certain it matters. Me thinks; even if test scores double, and they can find a teacher for 500RMB less, I am out the door. I am at a good school. Let us not forget where.
I am starting a primary education undergraduate degree online in three weeks (assuming Uncle Sams handout funds on time.) I plan to grind out the degree asap with the ample time off from "work". Then pass the Praxis test, student teach in the USofA, get that Certification and have my pick of the litter anywhere there are still kids with money in four years.
My liberal sister teaches Math in a conservative district in the US. Along with battling homophobia and "provocative" book banning in 2013, she thinks teaching the Common Core State Standards are lock step with Walmart in the global conspiracy to make the United States of America a Chinese colony.
Just look at this video evidence.

You were in Japan and you want to teach in china? I thought that Japan would pay better in terms of making enough to pay student loans. Most jobs in china pay around 7000RMB per month.
Also, take it from me when I tell you the chinese people are extremely bitter towards Japan. You will witness alot of anti Japan protests once in a while. If you are someone who has a heart for Japan, then china is a place where you might feel a little oppressed. I remember talking to local chinese about Japan and if I said anything good about them, they would get a little upset. And usually they express hatred and resentment towards Japan.
Just know this before you go to china. |

My students also overuse and misuse idioms. |

You've posted a very interesting series of stream-of-consciousness thoughts.
And so on. |

This has never been a clause in my contracts. |
I came to that conclusion too, when I was given an IELTS writing book. It wasn't in my contract either. |

I'd be interested in hearing more about this. Like how long you think it'd take to complete the degree, which state(s) it would be recognized in, how long you'd have to student teach, etc. I'm 31 and just left my cubicle 'career' behind to try China, but I do have to keep the long game in mind. And what handout would you be referring to? |

Hard to blame the Chinese, there are still people alive who remember the Nanking Massacre. China and Japan have a long and contentious history; think England and France. |

Because grandma and grandpa saw their friends get lit up/stabbed with bayonets/had their family members get raped and they are still alive.. hmm... yeah I wonder why they're a little uneasy with the Japanese. You've gotta keep the neutral reasoning in China, the ZANEY japan that does those ZANEY game shows! is not what the modern Chinese give a rats arse about. People are literally still alive from the massacre that occurred about 50 odd years ago. My professor in Canada lived through it. Sticking up for Japan for the hell of it is pretty retarded man. I'm not completely siding with the Chinese but I've met my fair share of western compadres who thought it was cool to be all political/give their POV on the whole Japan/Taiwan/Daiyu Islands (sp?) to the Chinese and it would enrage the locals... what the hell is the point of that? They're usually the ones with the least friends for some reason.. lol |

The chinese communist party has comitted massive atrocities against the chinese people as well. The reason there are so many drama tv series about Japan as well as the daoyu island dispute is because the communist party needs a smokescreen to keep the chinese people's attention away from domestic political conflict. Japan is used as a scapegoat. Nothing more.
And to the OP. Just to inform you. You won't be able to come to China directly from Japan. At least not on a Z visa. You have to fly back to whichever country you are from. And many people I speak with are going through a very hard time with the document processing. I know some people including one of the posters here who have been going through alot of waiting times. In some private messages I received from some other users, 2 months turns into 4 months. And 1 week turns into 3 weeks in terms of waiting times. You'll be at home for a while before the work permit and invitation letters get processed. I would consider Taiwan or even Thailand if I were you. I'm starting to learn how chinese bureaucracy and saving face works. And I'm thinking about NOT going to China after all. |
