I just received 2 job offers, one in KL and another in Penang...
Any feedback about life in either place?
Thanks |

Don't all reply at once, folks.
I like both places, but it obviously depends where you would be based in either. I'll assume you don't want to live in some backwater eating rice, rice and some rice with two dozen locals looking on.
In KL, you want to be fairly centrally based, which could also include the satellite town of Petaling Jaya. Anywhere else such as deepest Selangor or the new and boring town Putrajaya should maybe be avoided.
The state of Penang also includes the mainland with nondescript places such as Butterworth. You want to live on Penang Island, preferably near your workplace as getting around is tiresome.
I would opt for KL as it's larger and offers a lot more to do. You can go to Penang or just about anywhere else in SE Asia from KL too. |

Depends what you like doing. I've been living on the mainland part of Penang State for 3 years and really like it here. There are plenty of forest reserves nearby, it's relatively easy to get around. Penang island's good to visit for cultural events but I wouldn't live there because of the traffic congestion. On the other hand, I know people who've lived on the island for a while and really enjoyed it.
I've never lived in KL but it wouldn't suit me because it's more concrete and traffic than trees and greenery. But that's a personal preference. |
