Anyone else got the expat Xmas blues?
For me it started yesterday when I realised I'd forgotton to put up the Xmas tree, which in turn made me realise how, after so long here, I'm obviously placing less and less importance on traditions from the home country. But then I'm not involved in bayrams either... |

It affected me at the beginning of my career. New Year rather than Christmas. I felt truly miserable at New Year when I realised what a career in TEFL meant ! After a while you forget about it. |

Putting up my xmas tree this weekend, it helps to go through those little festive season charades, maybe even persaude a few fellow xpats to celebrate the day with you, if they can scrounge the day off their less than co-operative employers!
I hear the Greeks celebrate the day, usually they are a border crossing or a ferry boat journey away. |
