I'm considering taking a part time DELTA module 1 preparation course run by a uni near where I live. The DELTA is something I want to do, but I don't feel ready to do the whole thing intensively, nor can I afford it, so this may be a good start. Also, one of my main reasons for considering this is actually that I have to remain home for a while and may as well do something constructive as there are not many opportunities for teaching work.

It would run once a week from Jan to June, when the exam takes place. If I go ahead and do this, however, I am not sure when I will be in the position to do the other 2 modules. My question is; Is it more beneficial or necessary to do the modules back to back or with little time between them? I may not, for example, continue with modules 2 and 3 for another 6 months or even a year after doing the first one.
Should I just leave it until I am ready to do all three modules consecutively?

Advice would be much appreciated!

Beneficial - possibly.

Think of the Modules as distinct courses. Inevitably you will pick up some things while doing M1 that are transferable to M2, but your chances of passing M2 are unlikely to hinge on that; someone who passed M1 a while ago (or indeed someone who's never done M1 at all) stands just as good a chance of passing M2 as someone who's only recently passed M1.

Necessary - no. Divide DELTA up in your mind into three distinct qualifications and do each module whenever's convenient.

You gave a good reason to do M1 now ("I have to remain home for a while and may as well do something constructive...") so I'd suggest getting M1 under your belt now.

Good luck!
