Hi. I'm considering coming to Turkey, and I'd appreciate any insight those of you already there can give me. My specific question is: do you think two adults and an infant could live on 7300 lira a month somewhat comfortably? Our housing would be paid for separately. I know this varies by city, but let's say Ankara as an example.
Anything else you think a newbie to Turkey with a family should know would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Easily, but keep a close eye on the lira valuation. Lots of political turmoil in the past couple of weeks and it only looks to get much worse. No real physical danger for the common citizen except for in the pocketbook if you are paid in lira. It has become a significant concern. |

Lira dropping faster than a rock recently (2.28 vs $1US), inflation forecasts increased just today amid significant and increasing political turmoil with little relief in sight along with significant price increases in durable goods. General analysts forecasts are for turmoil to continue until presidential elections later this year at the earliest. |
