Hello Fellow Foreigners,

I just wanted to warn all foreigners that when you are asked to do a temporary day job, make sure you barter and agree upon a salary/payment. Last week I was referred to a local company to do some marketing advertisement in English for 1 hour. Thinking they would pay for taxi fare and a small stipend for my services, I was duped and even had to pay for my taxi both ways (60 rmb total). I know it's not much to argue, but the least they could have bought me a lunch or something. On a lighter note, they were nice and offered me 2 cups of hot water (heavy sarcasm). Oh well, lesson learned.. :0

Warm Regards,

Screwed Foreigner

Always get money up front when doing private work, regardless of the country.

Amway is Scamway! Say No Way to Amway!

Indeed, make sure that you will be paid and for how much and when before you do any "favors" for any "friends". Get it in writing if need be.

Warm regards,
