Last March. And now I'm teaching privately instead...more fufilling as I can choose my students and only serious ones seek me out.
Totally understand your point about employability but I still think so I hope that the high demand for ESL teachers gives all of us rooms in the market. |

Yes, there will still be jobs; however, the caliber of those offers will vary widely with Saudi contracting companies more likely to be interested compared to those universities that hire directly. Plus, for direct hire, be aware that many Saudi university employers calculate salary based on the applicant's verified years of professional experience. That is, applicants are to provide signed letters or employment certificates from each previous employer stating his/her start/end dates of employment, job title, and optionally, salary and responsibilities. Experience gained via self-employment (e.g., teaching private lessons) won't be factored into salary. Just something to keep in mind if you plan to continue looking for work in the Gulf. |
