This word scares me coming from Korea and all. Over there privates were illegal. I heretell they aren't over here in Taiwan, or are they?
My employer said in the contract not to teach privates. Is it okay to go behind his/her back, talk to them and tell them, or could I get into trouble? Is it really legal to teach privates in Taiwan, and how easy are they to find, how much should you charge, etc? |

Privates are illegal and equate to riding a scooter without a licence. Keep your mouth shut and you should be fine and also keep an eye out at everything going on around you and maybe use your mirrors from time to time. |

Essentially everything to do with foreigners working in Taiwan is illegal or has the potential to be. That is because you will be held accountable if your employer makes a mistake without your knowledge.
The government of the Republic o China keeps it that way for a reason. Do your research.
Privates in Taiwan are generally unreliable due to the cultural and social standards. I have known some people who have done very well teaching privates particularly in business oriented fields. I have also known a great many who have come up short with privates simply because they are unreliable. |
