With an uncompleted PhD in Applied Linguistics you could get a job at a Mexican university. If you were able to get a full time one, you could easily afford a good school for your kids, but it will take luck to get a full time one. But you could look into it. Once you had finished the PhD, if you had a position at a public Mexican university, you could supplement your income through a government grant program to attract PhDs to said universities. It involves a certain number of publications a year to keep the grant, but it's a doable number.
The first step would be targeting schools with an applied linguistics department.

Move to Singapore.
Enroll your children at government schools. They are virtually free for foreigners, have some of the world's best education, and foreign children can enroll at a fraction of the cost of an international school.
Perfect solution.
Plenty of teaching work here for you. |

| If you are finding your studies a trial, how will it feel when you are educating your children at home and presumably teaching some English to keep the wolf from the door? |
