To work in the city of Madinah proper you have to be Muslim. It's the same with Makkah. Both cities are holy to Muslims.

Been offered a position there, just wondering how those already there are finding it?
Where are you living ? Did you get a full iqama before leaving the uk? Im
planning to bring my two boys, 4 and 8, once ive got the iqama, is there anyone else doing this?

An iqama isn't issued until the employee lands in the Kingdom via an employment visa. The employer then applies for the employee's residence permit within 90 days of his/her arrival.

Unless I'm wrong, TQ's ad targets single/unaccompanied, female teachers for Madinah College, which is a women's college. If that fits your profile, then it's very unlikely your two children will be able to join you. Did you bring this up during your interview?

I didn't mention it at the interview, but their information states that they assist in helping staff sponsor their families, after they have received an iqama. Although, they do not pay for them in any way. It also states that women at the Madina college will be issued an iqama before leaving the UK.
I really need a nanny, as I will not be able to work a single day without one, can anyone recommend a reliable nanny who can live with me? or an expat mum who can assist at least temporarily?

Iqamas are issued after arrival in the Kingdom. If they get that point wrong, what else did they get wrong ?

I guess nobody knows much about this college. So what's the teaching and the country like in general, I'm only hearing negatives. I am Muslim and female.

That info about helping staff sponsor families very likely pertains to male teachers, which is why you should have brought up key info about bringing your children during your interview. Plus, they provide housing for unaccompanied/single females and not women as single parents of dependent children. As for being issued a residence permit prior to leaving the UK, according to TQ's faqs, female teachers will be issued a proper work/employment visa; there's no mention of iqamas. Once the (legal) employee lands in the Kingdom and actually signs his/her contract, the employer has 90 days to apply for the iqama.

I suggest you contact them asap about bringing your children because it appears you have a different view of how things work in KSA versus the reality, especially for expat women.

Not a good place for an unaccompanied female ! If you have dependants it will be even more difficult.

What exactly do you mean its not a place for unaccompanied women, the college is only unaccompanied women. Does this mean I can't walk around the city alone or with my kids? I am really hoping to find a reliable nanny asap or else I'm in trouble! any idea what is the maximum visit or umrah visa a person can get, so that I can bring someone over from the UK with me to help me with my kids?

So far no one has responded with any info---good or bad---about the college because it's pretty much unknown within this forum. Anyway, if you're looking for general info about life/work in KSA, check out blueabaya.com and americanbedu.com. Both sites focus on the expat woman's experience in the Kingdom.

There are other sites that can better address these types of questions. Do an Internet search on expat forum saudi for websites popular with expats of every nationality and with a strong representation of the Muslim community in KSA. These types of general expat sites are where I go for more specific info about life/work in whatever country.

Possible, but it may be difficult and/or expensive. You need to contact your prospective employer about this. Hopefully you don't get lied to.
