Does anyone have any information on health insurance in Turkey? I'm not there. Do they have national insurance? What status do you need to get insurance? Is the ex-pat insurance very expensive?

If you're legally working, you have national insurance. 95% of teachers aren't, so they don't. Most private universities/high schools will also give you private insurance, which is very good. I'm not sure how much it would cost to buy it yourself, but I think it's about 200 Lira to add someone to a policy, so it might be around that.

I just made another post to learn about work/residence visas and especially how they related to health insurance.

Is this thread still basically valid: that if you're working legally (I presume with a Work Visa) you're automatically covered.

BUT, the implication being, most teachers get by with a residence visa, and if they want coverage they can access local private insurance, which is probably going to better/preferable for anything significant anyway.
