Next time you find yourself in a situation where you've got loads of mates around you, loads of beer and a dart board but no darts try playing 'human darts'.All you do is run at the board and headbutt a number. If the wire leaves an impression on your forehead you 'score' .You can count down from 501.It's great.I think the game was invented by an Anglo-Australian.By the way Lozwich, what do your Ozzie mates say about you being 'half pom?' |

anti-Angloism, anti-Americanism etc bores me as much as jingoism, but you dont need to be too skilled to beat the Brits at anything athletic. During the last Commonwealth Games Australian victories became commonplace so the point that some considered the states should compete separately |

I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to offend anyone, but now, reading back on my post, I can see how all those exclamation marks might have been misread.
Its always been somewhat of a joke that I do not identify as being 'British-Australian', but this didn't carry across in my typing.. See, the rest of my family were all born in England, and being the only Australian-born person was a little piece of pride for me.. In my life, I've spent a total of 6 months in the UK, so I do not feel comfortable (nor do I desire) to call myself British...
That said, yes, Australia is better at England at many sports - look at that silly Australia 'A' and Australia 'B' cricket situation, but I can take no credit for that...
As for the Anglo-Australian thing, maybe it was referring to the fact that there are Aboriginal Australians, Italo-Australians, Greco-Australians, Asian-Australians etc etc etc, although I've not heard these terms used in Australia in the same way as in the United States.
Anyhoo, sorry to have caused offence...

Lozwich, cause offense. The Poms and Ozzies have a proud tradition of being rude to each other. It all stems from your MASSIVE insecurity, knowing that your veins are chock-full of Pom blood Seriously, I think that taking the p i s s out of others' national traits is healthy; we English have been taking it for years. It seems that only the heavily insecure have a problem with it (vis Philolinguist ). |

Yeah, half the fun of being in Oz or Gb is to be able to sling the sh .. around a bit and enjoy taking the P out of each other. we know it is only in jest and never taken seriously. Will the Usanians ever understand? they never manage to get the irony of the situation, take a look at the latest 'contribution to the forum 5000+ hits on being defensive, now that is irony. |

Oh, ok then!
You're all a bunch of pale-skinned, lily-livered nancy boys who suffer from delusions of grandeur while at the same time feeling insanely jealous about the fact that you sent all of your worst citizens around the other side of the world to live in God's Own Country and they have all turned into such strapping specimens as to give your "sportsmen" a thorough drubbing each time you meet!
And don't even get me started on the weather, food and your idea of "dentistry"!!!
How's that??

Yeah, I guess you are right Loz.
Us pink ones of the isles had ancestors who sent criminals to australia and religious zealots to the colonies and look what they have done since then. I am sure someone made a mix up in the dispersal department and sent them to the wrong place. |

Lily-livered? Us? That's it, Lozzers, the gloves are off. Outside, NOW! (And you buy the beers when you grovel for forgiveness ).
On a similar note, can anyone explain the length of the 'In defence of Americans' thread? I love being offensive to everybody, equality being central to my beliefs. I really couldn't give a rat's dooberry if someone makes unsavoury comments about the greatest race on Earth (and that includes you Jocks out there-I'm a Geordie ). It all brings us together in a spirit of animosity...Darn, this beer's good |

Isn't it funny that the Ozzies never mention the fact that they drink pish beer and are resposible for some of the world's ugliest women,(after the Incas and Polynesians) and Rolf Harris.Lozwich probably looks like her avatar.Shocker! She probably isn't even a teacher...just a barmaid in Lodon like the rest of young Australia. |

Cheap shot, biff. They're not all barmaids-I've come across shallow genepool Ozzie waitresses, too. I never tipped them, though |

Thanks Biffy! It has been a very very very long time since I could have been considered part of young Australia!!
And for your information, my eyes are hazel, not blue.
And as for the pish beer and ugly women, have you ever eaten English food and looked at your politicians! Ugh! When was the last time an Australian politician was found self-asphyxiated on his kitchen table wearing lingerie??
I'd suggest you look at stunners such as Margaret Thatcher and John Majors for a start, but it might put you off your "gourmet" breakfast of bangers, mash and grease scraped off the side of the frying pan. |

Aha, I get it. This thread is a conspiracy. Its intent is to get members of the Commonwealth fighting among themselves, thereby distractiong them from the REAL enemy: the USA. Don't be taken in, people. It's the old "divide and conquer" strategy.
Regards,
John
P.S. There's a heck of a good fight going on next door, on the "In Defense of Americans" thread. Why not pop over and join in? |
