Is it only Beijing that wants a lawyer-notarized, gov't-apostilled/authenticated NCRC stamped by the Chinese consular office back home within the past 3 mo's?
What do other prov's, cities require now?
Mine's 4 mo's old, authenticated but missing the consular stamp. I left Canada for Asia a month after I got it and would rather not return just for another police check nor go through the longer process of getting one remotely. |

I am probably going to work for a Beijing school next semester. They want the background check, but were not overly specific about it. Just said "Need the police clearance form."
Also, it has to be lawyer-notarized, gove/t-apostilled? Is this serious? I didn't even know they had such stuff in China. It's gonna be a big problem for me to get a check with all those qualifications done.
I am from Texas, if anyone has gotten one from Texas, I'd appreciate the info. |

Are they asking for PRC authentication or U.S. gov't authentication?
If it's the U.S. gov't apostillization, you send it to the U.S. Department of State. Eleven years ago, it was a fast turnaround. For PRC authentication, you might have to have it authenticated in the Chinese Washington Consulate.9 (That's right. You are from Texas!). That's what I did when, for a short while, the PRC was asking for authenticated degrees.
I don't get the lawyer part. Whose lawyer? An American lawyer or a Chinese lawyer. The whole apostillization process is is a legal one, performed by officials competent and duly sworn to authenticate certain documents.
Nothing about this in Jiangsu. |

hainan is currently NOT requiring this.....yet. they did ask for a
self-certification letter. just a statement from me that i didn't have
a criminal history. cause foreigners never lie?
although i dinna have to get one, i wanted to be ready just in case.
i are from texas, and managed to get me a certificate. you can order
the real deal from the state, but that requires fingerprints. texas uses
one outsourcing agency for that, with no provision for overseas fingers.
instead, i went to my county of residence.
for ya'll in texas, if you remember which county you lived in, send a
letter to the county clerk and request a "certificate of search." that
is a search of county records for any outstanding warrants. i also
requested that the sherriff write a short statement on his letterhead
that he didn't want me (anymore). they'll need your driver's license
and social insecurity numbers.
i got both back in about a month. an official-looking "certificate of
search on" from the clerk (notarized), and a one-sentence statement
from the sheriff on letterhead.
cost was $5 for the search, and $5 notary fee. |
