I will be going to China to buy a container of furniture in a few months (for business). Most of the antique furniture warehouses are located about an hour from Ningbo in a place called Cixi (or maybe Tian Yuan). Has anybody been to Cixi and knows a reasonable guest house / hotel.

Most of the people I know who are buying furniture seem to stay in $100 a night hotels in Ningbo, but apart from not having that kind of money its not really my thing.

I speak enough Chinese to get by and can read a menu (well enough to know what I'm getting), so the hotel doesn't have to be English speaking. Clean with a bathroom and preferably heating is fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

A quick google search reveals:
http://china.hotels-123.com/Cixi/
4 stars for less than US$60.

Then in Ningbo:
http://www.sinohotelguide.com/ningbo/
Some for under US$30.

But if you speak Chinese, just get off the bus/ train/ plane and tell the taxi driver you want a 3 star hotel - anyone- doesn't matter.
Ningbo is a quite an orderly place so you want get gouged by the taxi driver.)

You won't need heating at that time of year but 3 stars will have a/c and a choice of rooms anway. Assuming your arrive outside of holiday time, you don't need to book.
However, if that worries you, the hotel in Ningbo could do so.
Happy travels.

Mark,

About 12 months ago, I stayed at the Ningbo Hotel - I can't remember if it's a 2 or 3 star establishment - anyway, the suite was quite clean and comfortable, although a bit small ).It's located at,I think,65 Mayuan Rd,Ningbo.I made the booking through www.sinohotel.com - the "special rate" at the time was 218 RMB per night. I can't remember if breakfast was included in the tariff,or not.
